"2016 Special Construction Trike
""I know our main audience isn't motorcyclists, but the general tv viewing public,"" concedes a friendly and approachable Paul Sr. ""I think what we've done is made motorcycling more accessible"". This may sound immodest, but the man has a point. Anyone who's been into motorcycles long enough to remember when choppers meant gangs and drugs rather than rich men's toys would agree. Twenty years ago, riding a chopper meant getting to know the local gendarmes, and not in a, ""Yes, officer, I'll take two tickets to the policeman's ball"" sort of way."" From interview with Paul Tuetel, Motorcyclist magazine, 2011
For consignment, a custom built trike, or three wheel motorcycle with a title verified 170 actual miles with hand fabricated metal and a VW engine in back. We've never seen anything like it, and you probably haven't either, unless you've attended the numerous shows where this trike has appeared and on occasion, won. If you're looking for a show stopping bike that no one else on the block, or planet will have, read on.
Exterior
Orange Candy Metallic sets the base for lace and ""endless line"" graphics that are framed by white borders and are complemented by patches of a golden metallic designs with Lil Daddy Roth flake and this coverage is consistent over the fender, gas tank, and structural panels of the bike for a striking presentation. Watch the road pass underneath through an orange plexiglass floor and have a seat on the custom upholstered white vinyl seat reminiscent in material to your Schwinn banana seat in the late 60's, and this material extends to the rear seat and headrest in sharp contrast to the tubular orange construction. If you're not impressed yet, take a look at the tail lights which are derived from a Vespa, and the headlights which are uncommonly triangle in shape, not to be outdone by the vintage school bus stop light in back! There's more flake in the grips, and a long, chrome fork, leading to a 21-inch front wheel while 15-inch 120 spoke Dayton Wire wheels live out back.
Drivetrain
Fully chromed is the show worthy 2322cc flat four cylinder engine in back with dual Solex 1-barrel carburetors and a 4-speed manual keeping power in back and 4.182 gears. Front suspension is a traditional girder style and the rear is VW independent with lowered shocks and adjustable trailing arms. Disc brakes are found on the front wheel and on the rear wheels.
This trike is free of paint infraction and other notable imperfections. The chrome is sharp, (literally as there are accent spikes in places), and the upholstery is in great condition. We already know jaws will drop when you ride this into the show, or through town with other bikers, but this piece looks great just sitting still, a real throwback to the psychedelic chopper era and a rolling example of custom fabrication at its best. Here's an easy rider that's easy on the eyes and would fit right in your garage, man cave, or she shed.
