"2016 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG
""The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S65 sedan is the pinnacle of opulence and performance. Mercedes-Benz has really outdone themselves this year. They have taken what is known as the world standard in luxury and made it lighter, fancier, faster and better sounding. The handcrafted 6.0 liter AMG twin turbo V12 produces an astonishing 621 horsepower and 738 pound feet of torque. That's enough torque to pull a house down, or launch the S65 AMG from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds."" The DuPont Registry, March 2017
For consignment, a 2016 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG with a title verified 36,436 actual miles and an astounding list of features that epitomize the height of technological capabilities in 2016. Something called Magic Body Control, for example, scans the road's surface and adjusts the suspension accordingly after you've set your preferences. Think of it as an iPhone on wheels and spend some time with the owner's manual after you've purchased it. Ultimately though, it's a one button operation, and that button just happens to be the long pedal on the right!
Exterior
Arguably the best color for the car and the one used for the press car, Obsidian Black Metallic gives an elegant car that much more visual appeal with strategically placed, high quality polished trim surrounded the pillarless side windows, sculpted over the rocker panel, across the decklid with continuation over the tail lights, along the rim of the rear valance, and of course, trimming the entire, aggressive front fascia. The elegant crystal headlights are by Swarovski and all exterior lighting is of course, LED. The 20-inch AMG multi spoke forged wheels reveal optional silver painted AMG brake calipers and are wrapped in 255/40ZR20 tires with a late 2020 date code. The panoramic roof is veiled in smoke colored tint blending with black paint as an understated feature that is truly enjoyed from the interior. In profile, the car's steeply raked windshield and narrow greenhouse seems to have been shaped by the wind it will be cutting through and there's not a square edge to be found. There are also no imperfections with the exception of some chin scrapes, mostly out of sight, and some rock chips on the front.
Interior
Illuminated door sills invite you in as door panels of undeniable quality greet you first, clad in black leather, brushed nickel trim, and robust switchgear that offers limitless adjustments to the seats including memory, heat, and ventilation. The exclusive front buckets mix smooth black Nappa leather with diamond stitching, proving vast amounts of support as well as heated armrests. In back, the 2+2 seating enjoys the same unique upholstery and offers heat to occupants. An AMG steering wheel is a feast for the eyes as much as it is a pleasure to grasp and short stalks on the column continue the quality and lead to the digital dash that nearly 10 years later, is still state of the art. There's also a large center touch screen with navigation and dozens of embedded functions including display of the 360 degree camera. The remaining dashboard is a sculpted blend of leather black poplar wood trim, and the center console holds the mouse and dial to scroll through functionality, along with more flush mounted buttons. Black carpet covers the floor and continues to the clean trunk while Nappa leather makes up the headliner that surrounds the pano roof and overhead console housing more crystal, more nickel, and yes, more buttons!
Drivetrain
Carbon fiber dress panels highlight an engine that is framed in black plastic panels giving the appearance of being shoehorned into the bay cleanly. This shrouded powerplant is a 6.0 liter SOHC twin turbo V12, rated at 621 horsepower and tied to a Daimler Benz MCT 7-speed automatic transmission. All of that power gets funneled to the rear axle and 2.47 gears, and power disc brakes on all fours have the thankless job of reigning 621 horses to a gallop, then a stop.
Undercarriage
Belly pans take up most of the real estate underneath providing aerodynamics and obscuring most of the under workings. Dual exhaust runs in tandem down the center tunnel, then split to find original equipment mufflers and exit through twin pipes and quad outlet ports. Independent suspension is provided front and rear and bushings, knuckles, and pans are all dry and clean other than some road dust.
Drive-Ability
Imagine piloting a grounded F15 every day. Now imagine the cockpit of said jet was designed especially for you with adjustments plentiful enough to make this ""mass produced"" car feel like a bespoke F15. Sure, it's a car, but it's also special. As such, our test ride produced all you would expect from a flagship performance sedan, power, handling, feedback, and comfort. All of the functions we ran through worked as they should, with no surprises. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
We have over 1,000 cars at Classic Auto Mall as of this writing. There may be some that are faster. Some might have a loftier ride. Others stand out as classics from a bygone era. But none may offer the level of technology, horsepower, and Autobahn proven prowess of this AMG. It is a remarkable testament to automotive development and an incredible opportunity for the discerning buyer.
