"2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Hennessy 750 Convertible
Ford has their performance houses, Saleen, Steeda, Roush.� And Chevrolet has a few of its own with performance upgrades often being associated with some well known names.� Lingenfelter, SLP, Yenko, Callaway, and Hennessy. �And while Hennessy is not limited to Chevrolet, some well known mods have been applied to Chevys.� From their website: "" Hennessey� Performance was founded more than 30 years ago and has been focused on pioneering automotive performance ever since. �Hennessey� has modified more than 15,000 cars and trucks since opening in 1991.""
For consignment, a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Hennessy 750 convertible with a title verified 7,436 actual miles.� Start with an already potent ZL1 and let Hennessy work its magic, and some $25,000 later you have a 708hp beast of a car that not only goes like stink and handles like a train on rails, but looks good doing it!� And on this version, you can put the top down for an open air adrenaline rush of performance and speed.��
Exterior
If you're going to be fast, you might as well be red too, and this Camaro glistens with two stage Victory Red, augmented here by some extra black highlights from both the factory and added later.� The bulge in the hood is home to heat extractor vents and framed in black based carbon fiber and additional black is found highlighting the fender gills in back, the panel behind and between the tail lights, the rear air splitter and exhaust tips, the rocker panel, the canvas top, and of course, the 20-inch wheels wrapped in staggered sized tires with a date code no later than late 2019.� The steeply raked A-pillar and windshield create a dramatic chopped profile, and the canvas top gladly complies, sending a sloping rear window down to meet the trunk lid where you'll find a third brake light and shark fin antenna.� With the top down, just the top of the seats protrude past the shoulder line and a deep cavernous cabin is behind the large doors.� Everything is in fantastic, straight condition and as expected, only chin scrapes make the imperfection list upon our review.��
Interior
Piano black inserts brighten black plastic doors, and red stitching on the armrest adds a bit of pizazz and naturally migrates over to the front buckets seats which employ Alcantara on the inserts and leather covering robust cushioning on the sides with ample side bolstering and a tall, Hennessey embroidered head restraints.� The 2+2 in back gets pretty substantial structure too for this canyon carving configuration.� A contoured steering wheel frames square coves that house the gauges in front, while most of the switchgear is found in the center including the touchscreen with AM/FM radio, MyLink, Bluetooth and XM capability, along with dials controlling interior air flow and finally a quad pack of gauges reminiscent of early Z28's, all backlit in blue with red trim like something out of TRON.� There's more red stitched Alcantara on the dash and red stitched leather wrapping the stout shifter in the center console. �Low pile black carpet is protected by Hennessy branded mats and the trunk is protected by a Camaro branded rubber mat, and everything we just described is in like new condition.� Everything.�
Drivetrain
Okay, here we go.� Here's where Hennessy's magic wand really goes to work.� Out of the factory, the supercharged 6.2 liter LSA V8 under the hood was good for 580 horsepower.� Fine, but then it went to the massage parlor where it received Hennessy's upper and lower supercharger pulley, their heat exchanger and tank, a custom HPE cam, and stage 3 ported aluminum heads.� And all that results in a dyno proven 708 horsepower.� Talk about a happy ending!� Now, it's married to a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual transmission and power reaches the limited slip rear with 3.73 gears.� And obviously, until they invent something better, power disc brakes occupy the front and rear wheels. �A strut tower brace and some other additions dress up an already attractive engine bay where red and black are once again the color palette.�
Undercarriage
Additional braces stiffen the body and stainless steel headers begin the exhalation process which end up in stainless mufflers right before exiting through four black Corsa tips.� Suspension consists of MacPherson struts up front and coils springs with 4.5 link rear suspension on the independent back.� No oil is evident and no dirt either.�
Drive-Ability
A turn of the key ignites a thunderstorm that had heads turning as we rolled this ungodly beast onto the test loop. �You don't have to be Colombo to figure out what comes next. �The ridiculous potential of raucous speed is underfoot and a blip of the gas pedal in second gear is enough evidence that gears 3 through 6 would be exponentially more radical.� Hey, we just want to make sure the radio works!� It did, and so did everything else including the brakes and suspension, and we're satisfied to put King Kong back in his cage.� While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.�
A plaque on the dash says this car is serial number 17.� We're guessing that's not 17 of very many.� Beginning with an uncommon ZL1 of which only 7,956 were produced in 2013, and that includes hardtops and convertibles, it's safe to say this is a rare specimen and a rip roaring upgrade over an already legendary Camaro model.� If you have the need for speed, if you're goosed by boost, then hold on to your hat, because this is one special drop top looking for a new stable. �
