"2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302
The Mustang Boss 302 is a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang originally produced by Ford in 1969 and 1970, alongside its more powerful sibling the Boss 429 Mustang. Ford revived the Boss 302 nameplate for 2012. The standard 2011 Ford Mustang GT's 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine is enhanced and was referred to within Ford's development teams as the Road Runner engine.
For consignment, a very desirable 1 of 605 built and one of the most sought after non-competition model Boss 302 from 2012 and the blue oval. An exceptionally clean example with a title proven 14,270 original miles, a clean 1 owner CarFax, Race Red paint and a front and rear aero Laguna Seca splitter and spoiler setup on the bottom and top of this racer. Some sexy black decal striping, tinted glass, window sticker, Red Track Key, a 600+hp twin turbo equipped Road Runner V8, and a beautifully preserved Recaro interior. With some tasteful and adrenaline inducing mods, the original Boss owner's kit, the Boss car cover, and a SCT programmer it's time we race our way to the body of this description and take a tour of this car.
Exterior
Ultra fine straight steel panels cover the solid framework of this car, and are all bathed in factory applied Race Red. Don't be fooled by the mild mannered looks of the Mustang lurking within, (as if any Mustang could be considered ""mild mannered""), as this edition is built for full on performance. There are a few chips in the paint, but you must be right up against the body to see them. A shiny black Laguna Seca chin spoiler, (splitter), hood bump with black louvered heat extractors and more extractors on the sides of the hood prior to the windshield, we are firmly planted in seriously modern muscle territory. With Boss 302 badging dressing up the side C-stripe that highlights the classic Mustang cove and runs through the doors horizontally,it's hard to mistake this car for anything other than a Boss. A glossy black roof and uber dark tinted glass, including the retro side quarter and rear sloping pieces add to the menacing allure. That rear glass leadsdown to the pony car short decklid that ends with a multi-pedestal Laguna Seca spoiler. The rear sports the triple iconic Mustang tail lighting and a large galloping horse faux gas filler cap within a matte black panel. The lower roll pan has a small splitter for some aero excitement as well. 18 and 19-inch black multi spoke Apex EC-7 wheels are wrapped in staggered width Michelin Super Pilot Sport black wall tires that are looking like new. Don't forget the sportly black rocker cladding to finish things out swimmingly.
Interior
Inside the passenger compartment, Charcoal Black suede and cloth cover the smooth bolstered Recaro racing seats that are factory installed, and are the center of attention for the passenger compartment. The sporty dash with blue LCD display instruments fronts these seats, and uses its sculpted lines to show off sportiness throughout the interior. The gauge cluster is a throwback to Gen 1 of this car with the circular flanking large instruments on either end of the gauge cluster and a central digital information center. The dash center contains a litany of push buttons for the AM/FM/CD changer stereo controls and climate adjustments. A rear 2+2 seat is installed and 2 more can go for the joyride! Racing between the Recaro buckets is a black plastic console with an ample glovebox, hideable cup holders and a MGW short throw shifter. To help keep an eye on vitals we note the addition of AutoMeter water temperature, oil pressure and oil temperature gauges along with an AeroForce interceptorOBD2 gauge. Black carpeting is in nice clean condition, and the headliner above is lookin' great.
Drivetrain
Under the sculpted hood is the heart of the matter in the form of the Boss 302 5.0 Liter Coyote based Roadrunner V8 with EFI. In stock trim this potent engine makes over 444hp, but the wick was turned up a bit on this example as it now is capable of making 601.9hp on 7lbs of boost and running 93 octane pump gas. Helping the mill achieve those numbers is an Armageddon twin turbo system with Garrett GT3076R water and oil cooled ball bearing turbos. Feeding the fuel side of things is a MSD electric fuel pump booster and Injector Dynamics 1050X injectors. Our consignor notes that energy suspension motor mounts have been installed along with NGK iridium plugs, a Watson catchcan, a Moroso10qt oil pan, and a MMR racing billet oil pump gears and crank sprocket. Keeping things cool is a C&R aluminum radiator being fed by a Meziere electric water pump. For the boost end of the equation, Tial wastegates and blow off valves were installed as well as a Fluidyne aluminum intercooler and Kooks 304 stainless headers, down pipes, and charge pipes. Palm Beach Dyno handled the tuning and a Ben Calimer Stage 2 MT-82 6-speed manual transmission with a McLEod RXT twin disc clutch and pressure plate is on the back of this buxom mill. Energy Suspension provides the transmission mount and the power gets pushed rearward to a Ford 8.8 inch Torsen differential 3.73 TracLoc rear axle via a DriveshaftShop 1 piece carbon fiber driveshaft with a BMR driveshaft loop. All buttoned up under the hood with things looking surgically clean, right down to the dual exhaust that either routes to the factory side exits or to the rear of the car via a pair of FlowFX mufflers by Flowmaster
Undercarriage
Simply put, just showroom underneath with factory overspray, aero coverings, racing inspired Whiteline adjustable sway bars and endlinks andVorschlag-Bilstein TrackPro adjustable coilovers for the independent coil spring suspension and a Whiteline watts link rear suspension which has been fitted Maximum Motorsports control arms. Power Brembo front disc brakes and standard power rear discs add the woah factor to counteract the go factor and they have treated to a Ford Racing front brake duct kit and DBA 5000 2 piece front rotors.
Drive-Ability
A solid runner, blistering and mind numbing acceleration, and steady braking with rail-like handling. Inside the Recaro seats are very comfy, and the instruments are well within the driver's eye scan. All functions were working well as they should and a very groovy throwback in some ways, and forward thinking in others test drive experience. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Just a beautiful example of a 1 owner very nice condition for this Boss 302 from 2012 with all the parts to make it a true Boss of the track or the street. Harkening back to the days of earlier models yet contemporary in its racy design to menace the competition. Nearly no frowns to speak of and a wonderfully packaged modern muscle car...win on Sunday, sell on Monday.
