For consignment, a 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe with a title verified 7,563 actual miles. A three owner car that carries 100 horsepower for every liter of engine capacity and a history of the car that's immediately apparent when perusing this car, inside and out.
Exterior
Of the 3,545 2010 GT500 coupes delivered, just 225 were produced with Grabber Blue stripes on Performance White paint, putting this car in the middle range of commonality, but as a GT500, on the high end of exceptionalism. The stripes are wide and bold and make a distinct impression as they undulate over the front fascia, hop over the air ducts on the hood, skim over the slick top roof, then snake their way over the decklid, around the spoiler and down to the license plate box. The blue also colors the rocker stripes that spell out the model, GT 500. Keeping things grounded are 19-inch five spoke argent gray wheels with staggered size tires. And speaking of the back, the air defying rear valance carves out a couple of tunnels to allow the big exhaust tips to exit like a pair of trumpets. The Shelby Cobra emblem adorns every side of the car to appease surrounding cars in traffic, as if other visual cues didn't clue them in! Chin scrapes on the front air dam make our list of noted imperfections while slight curb rash on one wheel is the second and final flaw we note.
Interior
If all you saw was the black door panel with perforated vinyl insert, you could be looking at any car presenting cleanly. But turn your attention to the leather buckets in front and suddenly the outside and inside merge as Grabber Blue stripes flow through the tuck and roll inserts under the embossed Cobra emblem and high head restraints. The deep rear 2+2 seats also wear the blue stripes for a sporty profile the kids will love! The meaty steering wheel features Alcantara at the hand positions and thumb button on the horizontal spokes, leading to a blue lit instrument cluster fantastically analog in its nod to the creations of Chuck Cantwell. Modernity steps in with a center touch screen showing climate and the functions of the Shaker 500 AM/FM/6 CD stereo with Sync, navigation, and Bluetooth. Not to be outdone by the seats, the shift knob wears a set of Shelby stripes along with the shifting diagram spelled out over an Alcantara boot with white stitching, and everything we've mentioned here is in like new condition. Low pile black carpet clings to the floor and a foam backed gray headliner conforms to the roofline beautifully while the trunk is essentially pristine in its finished gray panels.
Drivetrain
The engine and bay are clean of course, and we're looking at the monster 5.4 liter DOHC supercharged V8 rated at an astounding 540 horsepower. This is mated to a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual that sends a herd of horses to the Ford 8.8"" in back with 3.55 gears and TracLoc. Brembo front brakes are part of the four wheel power disc set up.
Undercarriage
Wicked clean underneath with the typical surface rust on the rear axle making it appear like Sedona stone, but all else is free of rust and debris and many of the assembly line wax pencil marks are still clearly visible. The dual exhaust runs through a wide X union, then flows into original equipment mufflers then exiting through angle cut chrome tips. Base suspension includes MacPherson struts in front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar.
Drive-Ability
This is practically a new car, so as we feather it onto the test loop, there are no surprises. Obvious power is expressed through the brawny exhaust note and the fat tired snake is sure footed in straight aways and in turns. Shifts are short and crisp and road feel is communicated through the low profile tires and track ready suspension. All functions on board get a green light from us as we slither back to the mall. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Here's a low mileage GT500 in an exciting spec and like new condition just begging to be driven. But first it has to be owned! The legendary Shelby name carries with it an obligation to performance and this car bears it out in spades. It is iconically raucous and yet perfectly streetable. Despite SHELBY being strewn across the rear decklid, this car really has your name written all over it! Now we just need your John Hancock!
