Billed as one of the most well-rounded grand touring convertibles in the world, the Ferrari California was primarily intended to attract new Ferrari owners. The car's grand touring personality was emphasized with a slightly higher ride height compared to its more aggressive siblings. The chassis was designed and manufactured by Ferrari division Carrozzeria Scaglietti.
This California was manufactured in September 2009 in a purpose-built facility that was constructed adjacent to the existing factory at Maranello, Italy. The new facility was part of Ferrari's Formula Uomo program begun in 1997 to improve production, safety and employee happiness. Overall, the Ferrari production line(s) make a total of about 27 cars per day, or between 6,000 and 8,000 cars per year. Production of the California amounted to about 8,000 units spanning between 2008 and 2012.
This Ferrari rolls on Pirelli P Zero radials, size 245/35ZR20 in front and 285/35ZR20 in back. Each tire is mounted to a factory 10-spoke alloy wheel. The wheels and tires are all in very good condition. The car had its top replaced and serviced at Ferrari St. Louis and has no known issues.
Powering this Ferrari is a 4.3L DOHC 32-valve V-8 engine (code F136IB) with direct fuel injection that powers the rear wheels. This engine generates 454 horsepower and 358 lbs-ft of torque. Backing this motor is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and limited-slip differential. Driver convenience features include dual-zone air-conditioning, power windows, power locks, power and heated sideview mirrors, pushbutton start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth connection, back-up camera, navigation system,
Safety features include security system, dual front airbags, side impact airbags, start/stop feature, anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, high-intensity discharge headlights with automatic on, rear window defroster, tire pressure monitoring system, intermittent windshield wipers, auto leveling headlights and emergency trunk release.
Inside, a tan and black interior offers beautiful contrast to the car's exterior. The tan front bucket seats and rear demi-buckets offer a waffle pattern to the upholstery. The black floor and dashboard top are in good order. A three-spoke steering wheel faces the driver. Tan inner door panels match the lower dash in color and condition. A factory infotainment system and pushbutton selectable gearshift round out the interior. We are selling this Ferrari on the behalf of a local consignor who purchased the car in 05/2023

The engine makes use of a wet sump designed lubrication system. The engine's sound � a feature that distinguishes every Ferrari � was engineered to enhance the vehicle's driving experience both with the top open and closed.
The California's mid-front engine layout and rear gear box configuration create a 47% front to 53% rear weight distribution.
The California is equipped with an exclusive Ferrari designed F1-Trac system. The system, originally introduced on the 599 GTB Fiorano, was updated for the model. The variable power distribution to the rear wheels allows greater stability and performance in roadway turns. The result is an average increase of 20% in acceleration when exiting curves (when compared to traditional traction control systems).
The California was the first Ferrari to offer stop/start technology. What was an option package and called the HELE system (High Emotion / Low Emission) allowed the engine to shut off while at extended idle and start again immediately upon pushing the accelerator pedal.
Competition to this Ferrari in 2010 included Aston Martin's DB9 Volant�, Audi's R8 Spyder, BMW's M3 Cabrio, Bentley's Azure T, Chevrolet's Corvette, Jaguar's XKR, Maserati's Grancabrio and Mercedes-Benz SL 600.
