Introduced for the 2005 model year, the C6 generation of Chevrolet's venerable Corvette brought about a host of refinements that made the Corvette better looking, better performing, and nicer to live with on a daily basis. The exterior dimensions were shortened in both length and width, while the wheelbase was increased for better ride and handling. The body lines were much more taught than the somewhat bulbous curves of the C5, and the biggest styling change of all was the exposed headlamps replacing the pop up lamps present on the Corvette since 1963. Gasp! But alas, this move reduced weight on the front end and gave the C6 a mode modern appearance somewhat aping the Ferrari 575 Maranello from the front. Under the hood was the new LS2 V8 making an even 400hp, up from the previous LS1s 350hp. The brakes were larger, and the suspension was retuned for the weight and wheelbase changes. Inside an all new and more modern interior appeared that improved on the most complained about part of the C5, with much improved seats and switchgear that felt much better than the soft touch controls of the C5. All in all, the C6 was a very evolutionary step up from the C5 and carried the Corvette torch proudly for the next nine model year until it was retired after 2013.The 2006 Corvette convertible catalogued here for sale is a beautiful example of all the sixth generation Corvette has to offer. The Z51 package includes larger cross drilled brake rotors, performance tuned suspension, and a 3.42 rear axle gear ratio for quicker acceleration making this Corvette quite lively to drive. On the inside this Corvette is spec'd with the LT2 trim and offers leather power operated and heated sport bucket seats, heads up display, memory package, auto dimming mirrors, power adjustable steering column, Bose AM/FM/CD/XM 7-speaker sound system with DVD based navigation and universal Homelink garage door opener. This crisp and clean Corvette is a two-owner vehicle originally sold in New Jersey before coming to Florida in 2019. Recent maintenance includes flushing of all fluids(power steering, brakes, transmission fluid, rear end service, and coolant), oil change, alignment, and replacement of harmonic balancer and all belts and tensioners.
