Need a second or third vehicle but want to maintain the luxury you've become accustomed to in your daily driver? Consider this 2000 S-class car from Mercedes-Benz. This car is from a local consignor to settle an estate.
Originally delivered on February 11, 2000, this Benz was assembled in Mercedes' Sindelfingen, Germany factory. Dressed in Obsidian Black, (code 197U), the car's paint and trim are in overall excellent condition. The engine bay is very tidy, the body-colored bumpers fit tightly and the car plays the company's flagship role it looks sleek yet purposeful and the doors close with Mercedes' well-known bank vault-like solidity.
This big Benz rolls on Michelin radials and 17-inch, light alloy wheels (code 671). Also, there are a screw jack, hand tools and a full-sized spare tire in the trunk. There are a few items that need attention: the car's hood supports are inoperative; the sunroof works intermittently; the left low beam headlight is inoperative; and the parking brake release is inoperative.
Under the hood is a 4.3L SOHC 24-valve V-8 engine (code M113). Other engine features include iron-coated piston skirts, fracture-split forged steel connecting rods, a one-piece cast camshaft and a magnesium intake manifold. Backing this motor is a five-speed automatic transmission (code 5G-TRONIC). Driver convenience features include electronic climate control; memory package (driver seat, steering column and sideview mirror) (code 278); cruise control; power rack-and-pinion steering; power four-wheel disc brakes; power windows; power locks; power front seats; power sideview mirrors; front and rear heated seats (codes 872 & 873); and power sunroof (code 414).
Safety equipment included dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes and Mercedes-Benz's COMAND system (code 352), which in 2000, could understand 300 words and control certain features on the phone, radio, CD player and other systems. The second-generation system needed 20 times the memory of the first-generation system (from about a .5 MB or megabyte to 20 MB. Other safety items include a rear window defroster (code 249), electrically-operated rear window blind (code 540) and heated washer fluid (code 875).
Inside, the car's Saffron leather interior (code 264A) presents very well. The front buckets and rear bench seat look great, as does the matching carpeting. The dashboard is two-toned, with the Saffron separated from the black by a strip of faux wood. The two-toned nature of the dash continues on the inner door panels, which mirror the rest of the cabin's condition. The center stack and center console also present well. A factory AM/FM stereo (code 810) and console-mounted gated shifter complete the interior.
Competition to this Benz in 2000 included Audi's A8, BMW's 740i, Cadillac's DeVille and Seville, Chrysler's LHS, Infiniti's Q45, Jaguar's Sovereign and Lexus' LS400.
If you collect Benzes, or if you're simply looking for classic luxury machine that still offers no compromises, then this S430 should be parked in your garage. Stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to get the ownership process started.
