This 1985 Seagrave HB-40DH fire truck was in service with Kennedy Township Independent Volunteer Fire Department in Pennsylvania until 2022, when it was purchased by a firefighter for use in parades. Power is provided by a turbocharged 12.1-liter Detroit Diesel V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a locking rear differential. The truck has a dually rear axle, 20? and 22.5? wheels, a 1,250-gpm Waterous water pump, a 1k-gallon water tank, and a foam system in addition to diamond plate panels, equipment cabinets, and emergency beacons and sirens. Acquired by the seller in 2024, this Seagrave fire truck is now offered at no reserve with a Pennsylvania title in the seller's name.
The body is finished in red and white with gold leaf-style Kennedy Township and Engine 181 graphics. It has diamond-plate panels, grab handles, equipment cabinets, work lights, and emergency beacon lights and sirens. Air horns are secured to the cab roof, and electrical outlets and reel-out power cords are also fitted. The headlights were replaced in June 2024. The onboard Dayton generator does not work, and the left windshield panel is cracked.
Steel 22.5? front and 20? rear wheels wear polished covers and are mounted with front 12-series Firestone and rear 11-series Wanli tires. Stopping power is from air-actuated brakes, and the truck is also equipped with a Jacobs engine brake.
A Stang rotating monitor is mounted behind the cab, and other firefighting equipment includes with a 1,250-gpm Waterous water pump, a 1k-gallon water tank, a 50-gallon foam tank, and multiple discharges. The pumper control panel has a bank of lever valve controls, gauges for pressure and suction, and remote readouts for engine RPMs, oil pressure, and coolant temperature.
The cab features an air-ride driver's seat, a two-place passenger bench, and two rear-facing jump seats upholstered in black vinyl. Controls and switchgear for emergency functions, sirens, lights, and ventilation are housed in the dashboard, and a master power cutoff dial is positioned on the center console. The CD stereo and the low-band two-way radio do not work.
Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer, a 4k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 21k miles, approximately 250 of which were added under current ownership. The transmission oil-temperature gauge does not work.
The turbocharged 12.1-liter Detroit Diesel V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission, a locking rear differential, and a dually rear axle.
