"1969 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback 440 M Code
This 1969 Plymouth Barracuda is one of the rarest and highest power to weight ratio muscle cars ever produced. Some interesting facts on these cars. These cars were scheduled to be built as Cuda 383s by the Hamtramck plant, then were specially handled through the ""fleet build process"" and sent to Hurst Performance then built as 440 Cudas. Powered by the well-known but sometimes mis-identified Plymouth 440 Super Commando engine. Also unique to these cars were the left side exhaust manifold casting number 3462017-1 and the left side motor mount. Complete history and full detailed description of how they were built is included in the Cuda Registry. The cars original drive train is installed.
This 1969 M Code, stripe delete (V78 Code) Plymouth Barracuda Fastback was restored in the late 2000s. The 440ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt in 2022 with work that included boring the cylinders .010? over and fitting forged pistons. The engine is also equipped with a four-barrel carburetor, polished valve covers, and an aftermarket dual exhaust system. Various casting and stamping numbers are pictured in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission and a 8.75-inch Chrysler Sure-Grip rear axle with 3.55:1 limited-slip differential. The chassis was repainted, and a protective coating and body-color paint can be seen on the underside.
The fastback body left the factory in Ice Blue Metallic (B3), and bodywork was reportedly carried out before it was refinished during the restoration. Exterior features include a chrome mirror and bumpers, dual black hood scoops, a flip-up fuel door, and dual rectangular exhaust finishers.
Body-color 14? wheels wear Plymouth-branded hubcaps and are mounted with Firestone Super Sports Wide Oval whitewall tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums. The car was equipped from the factory with a Rally suspension and front sway bar, and it has been fitted with KYB Gas-a-Just shocks.
The cabin was reupholstered during the restoration and houses Code HGB interior with Blue high trim bucket seats and a rear bench covered in blue vinyl that are complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, carpeting, headliner, and door panels. Equipment includes a woodgrain-trimmed center console, front and rear lap belts, and vent windows. There is a blanking plate in place of the radio. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles.
A Galen Govier report from 1997 that decodes the equipment, colors, and production information is included in the sale. Includes Chrysler Registry Report and documentation from 1969 440 'Cuda Registry and built sheet.
This is a beautiful example of rare1960s Plymouth performance. This classic deserves to be driven on weekends and would be appreciated at shows and events. Without a doubt a car collector would benefit greatly by adding this 1969 M Code Cuda to their collection. Hello and welcome to LRA AUTO SALES. We purchased a Chevrolet Dealership almost three years ago and turned it into a Quality Pre-Owned Auto Superstore and Muscle & Classic Car Museum.
I named it LRA Enterprises Auto Museum and Auto Sales which encompasses my two son’s initials and mine. I wanted it to become a family oriented place where parents could take their sons & daughters to and show them what cars use to be like in their era and where they can purchase a car of their era. Where a husband and wife could bring their children to and link the gap of automotive history from present back to the past.
We pride ourselves in displaying some of automotive history’s greatest and most rarest cars ever built. Where names such as Corvette, Super Sport, BOSS 429, MOPAR and HEMI are common place. We are also strong in the racing heritage and names such as Lingenfelter and Ray Barton, Richard Petty and Bobby Allison are legends and at LRA we’ll make sure those legends will never die.
We offer a “one stop shop” kind of atmosphere and offer all aspects of sales, service, auto body and collision and towing. We encompass a full array of Cars and Trucks for sale from the 1950’s up to current day. We also have a Speed Shop on site, offering everything from wheels to accessories and even dyno runs for measuring horsepower.
We are located at 3114 Veterans Highway / Route 413 in Bristol PA and provide quality pre-owned cars and quality pre-owned trucks to all the surrounding areas of Bristol.
