This Series 1.5 E-Type has a history of long term stewardship with its late owner and is now offered as a project car for an aspiring e-type enthusiast. Some light restoration efforts were begun but not finished. The car has not been run for about eight years and will need some service to the engine, fuel system and chassis before being roadworthy again. It is said to have been a running & driving car prior to it's slumber.
The exterior body panels are in generally good condition except for a small dent on the RF fender. The older repainted finish shows its age with general dullness, worn areas and a few spots of minor corrosion beneath the surface. The convertible top is in good condition. The glass is also in good condition with no damage or delamination noted. The brightwork is fair with areas of surface rust and pitting evident. The interior is in fair original condition overall. The original seat upholstery and door cards are very worn, the carpets have been removed to show solid floors. The instrument panel and gauges remain in good condition. The engine compartment is unrestored and in fair condition, showing some light corrosion and patina typical of an older car. All of the major components appear to be in place or on hand; their operational condition is unknown. The chassis is unrestored and in fair condition overall. All structural elements are solid, undamaged and free of rust, showing only some surface corrosion consistent with the car's age. The tires have good remaining tread and show 2010 date codes; the chromed wire wheels show some surface rust.
This a great opportunity for a Jaguar enthusiast; it won't take much to return it to driving condition and can be a rolling restoration project while remaining drivable. There's a lot of upside here for a reasonable entry cost. The seller is assisting the owner on the sale of this car located in New London Connecticut.
