My Nova is an unrestored car with 1 respray in its Factory Tahoe turquoise (GM code LL), it still has all of the Safety Plate OEM glass in it.
Its got a new NOS L79 block (yes, its NOS). I bought it off eBay and all the numbers matched for a L79. The short block was produced in 1966, I think it was March, I dont remember the month, but I know it came back as 1966 according to the numbers. I took it apart, rebuilt it and dropped it in the Nova. I put a set of gm bow tie phase 2 heads on it, a 280 comp cam a plasma coated Edelbrock Airgap intake and a polished 650 Holley on it. I installed an entropy aluminum radiator in it along with 2 of the highest CFM fans that SPAL makes to keep it cool. Both fans are hooked up to come on at the appropriate time. The first one comes on at 180 degrees and the second one comes on when the ac is turned on or if the car reaches 200 degrees. The car normally runs around 180-190 on a hot day while idling in traffic. I also added a 220 amp alternator to compensate for the extra draw on the charging system. All of the accessories on front of the motor are on a March performance serpentine belt setup.
The exhaust consists of a set of exhaust ram horn manifolds that flow into a 2.5 inch psipe going into a set of 10 series flowmasters. They exit behind the rear of each wheel.
The transmission is a TCI competition 700r4 with a 2200 stall.
The rearend was rebuilt. I put an Eaton posi unit in it with 3:90 Yukon gears with new axles and bearings. It also has a set of Caltrac traction bars and an aluminum rear girdle for added strength.
It turns about 2200 rpms in overdrive. So, with that said, the gears have not hurt the cars ability to cruise down the interstate at 65-70 mph.
The front end has the Church Boys R&P suspension with their complete setup which uses the tubular control arms (upper and lower) and Viking double adjustable coilover shocks. It handles great!
The interior is all original with the exception of the idit tilt steering column, carpet, Dakota dash, vintage air vents and the console (it was originally a 4 speed car, the rear view mirror the kickpanel speakers (kick panel speakers not currently installed, but come with the purchase of the car), the rear speakers and the Retrosounds SXM/Bluetooth radio. There are no rips and tears in the interior. I have just fixed the dome light. I had to put door strikers in it. The car will also come with 2 new reproduction door sills. They havent been installed yet. The classic Auto air ac/heat work great. The gauges under the dash can come out, they are no longer need since I installed the digital dash. The digital gauges are more accurate than the gauges that were under the dash (they were old).
The paint is an 9 out of 10, in my opinion. There are a few light scratches that will buff out since they are in the clear. I built her to be a reliable good driving car and thats what she is. Shes an awesome driver, not a show car.
