Gateway Classic cars of Tampa presents this icon of automotive history, the 1966 Volkswagen Beetle. The VW Beetle was dubbed the peoples car from its debut with over 21 million cars sold since 1945. This 66 Beetle is more noteworthy because of its L87 Pearl white exterior over #75 Pigalle, Red leatherette interior. This combination is said to be one of only two colors schemes for the "Pigalle" VW Beetles. Its said to be a tongue in cheek nod to the red light district of Parris France. The Beetle comes with a Certificate of status" from Volkswagen verifying the vin and options. The car arrived to the current owner from its original port of delivery and long time home of California. So its a well preserved and rust free example of the breed. However additional love was bestowed on the car . Such as a fresh respray in - factory correct - VW Pearl white, fresh factory correct interior, new color matched wheels and white walled tires, plus rear venetian blinds and a roof and rear hatch luggage rack. The car also has matching red luggage and a highly coveted 1950s picnic kit complete with silverware and dishes inside a red patent leather case.Youd think this attention to detail would demand a basic original 1300cc motor at the rear. Nope not at all. this 66 Beetle has a bit of spice thanks to a built 1776cc engine with all of the So-Cal goodies to get this Bug zipping down the road! The engine is mated to a rebuilt Freeway Flyer 4 speed manual for good free way cruising and fuel economy. Unique and rare rides like this are a treat. And this Pigalle 1966 Beetle is neat little machine. It comes with paperwork documenting its heritage and build, and the mass appeal of classic Beetle. Plus it can be driven and enjoyed on modern roads thanks to is 1776cc engine and up geared transmission. This flower child will make an awesome addition to any collectors stable.
