Debuted in October 1962, featuring sleek lines derived from GM styling chief Bill Mitchells victorious Stingray SCCA racer with refinements by Larry Shinoda, the new Corvette Sting Ray electrified the automotive world. Other updates included a new independent rear suspension developed under Zora Arkus-Duntov. The lightly updated 1964 models maintained Corvettes growing sales momentum with production rising to 22,229 units a new all-time high. Updates included simplified styling cues, better interior ventilation, more interior color choices, and the debut of newly optional RPO P48 cast aluminum knock-off wheels.
While the track bound Z06 option package was discontinued after 1963, powertrain combinations remained essentially unchanged for 64. However, both the carbureted L76 and L84 Rochester Ramjet fuel-injected 327 CI V-8 engines were now uprated to 365 and 375 horsepower, respectively. Transmission choices continued with the cruising-oriented 2-speed Powerglide automatic and the Muncie M20 4-speed selected by the vast majority of 1964 Corvette buyers, numbering 19,034 in all.
Finished in White over visually striking Red upholstery with a Black convertible top, this attractively restored 1964 Corvette Convertible maintains its iconic looks and factory specifications. Power is provided by a well detailed 327 CI 4-barrel V-8 engine mounting a correct chrome-lid, twin-snorkel air cleaner and factory exhaust manifolds feeding a full-length dual exhaust system. A driver-preferred 4-speed manual transmission delivers the power via a correct independent rear axle. The frame and suspension are rebuilt and well detailed. Other highlights include a three-spoke steering wheel and AM/FM radio. Gleaming chrome bumpers, cast aluminum knock off wheels, and Redline BF Goodrich Silvertown radial tires complete this 1964 Corvette Convertible, which is offered ready to drive, show, and enjoy. Appraised value of $105,000 CAD. Canadian tax is not applicable.
