"Details About Our Available Classic Jaguar:
For sale at the St. Louis Car Museum is a rotisserie restored, 1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe finished in Bright Red over Biscuit Tan leather interior! Powered by its original, number's matching 3.4L DOHC Inline 6-cylinder engine and head, along with its 4-speed manual gearbox, it comes equipped with traditional ""discs and spats"" and complementing black wall tires for a superb presentation! The car received a full nut and bolt restoration that quickly earned seven JCNA Concours Driven Division wins and a 100-point score at the Palos Verdes Concours D'Elegance. It is a remarkable example with special attention to detail throughout.
The photo-documented restoration shows a true, body-off rotisserie restoration to a superbly survived, rust free XK120 FHC. The Heritage Trust Certificate shows it sold from Hornburg Jaguar of Los Angeles when new and remained a lifelong resident of California, before heading to Massachusetts for restoration between 2006-2009. It was stripped to bare metal, sealed with red oxide primer, and repainted professionally by Fiber Tech in a terrific shade of red over all new tan interior (originally silver over red), giving it a road presence that is easy to admire from every angle! It has been fully rebuilt as necessary with comprehensive drivetrain service by KTR Motorsports, a complete cloth-covered wiring harness, new suspension bushings along with Koni shocks, new Dunlop Roadspeed tires, exhaust system, and more. All chrome is in excellent condition as is the clear window glass.
It returned to California soon afterwards where it would achieve JCNA honors at the multiple events it attended. Mileage on the restoration is estimated at just under 2,000 miles, and it continues to start, run, and drive with tremendous ease! The odometer reading shows only 29,835 which are said to be original to the car. It would join Richard Stephen's Academy of Art University Collection in 2010 where it would remain professionally curated in San Francisco ever since. Just 1,356 LHD Coupes would be produced in 1952. If you have been looking for a worthy Jaguar Fixed Head Coupe with certain show-winner appeal, look no further! Call today to schedule a test drive or to ask about financing and/or shipping this luxury classic!
History About Jaguar's Famous XK120 Model:
First appearing at the London Motor Show in 1948, design icon William Lyons was showcasing Jaguar's first sports car since the SS100 as the brand new XK120 open 2-seater. The response was immediately recognized as a success, and production began in alloy-body form. The car was named for its incredible top speed of 120 mph, and Hollywood movie icon Clark Cable was the first in line to have the world's fastest production car of the era! The car moved to steel bodies early on with 1950 production units to meet production demand.
A new Fixed Head Coupe was featured at the Geneva Auto Show in 1951, providing greater comfort, a quieter interior, and luxury practicality. Particularly having refinements that included real burled walnut veneer dash & door caps, outside door handles, and roll-up windows featuring door vent glass & rear quarter glass, and accommodating cargo shelf behind the seats. The incredible shape of a Fixed Head Coupe is gorgeous, with a perfectly shaped teardrop roofline that provides a unique, curved shape to the side glass for a superb overall presentation!
