"1936 Cord 810 Westchester
The 1936 Cord is counted as the most striking and innovative car of its time. Cord was the first mass production auto offered with front wheel drive and the elimination of the rear drive train allowed the car to be so low, running boards were unnecessary. It also featured an ""alligator"" style hood hinged at the rear, ""coffin"" front end styling, concealed door hinges, and teardrop shaped fenders. The disappearing headlights are individually raised and lowered by hand cranks located on the dash in front of the driver and passenger. When it was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in November 1935, this car caused a sensation. Thx heritagemuseum
For consignment, a 1936 Cord 810 Westchester showing 91,983 miles which are not actual. This shell is a project car. Less than 3,000 Cord 810's were produced so even in barn find condition it's a rare find. This was a 4 door made into a 2 door and grafted to Lincoln Zephyr rear quarters according to our consignor.
Exterior
Primer gray and light green cover the body which lacks windows, hardware, (except for door handles), and trim of any kind. The epic grille is huge and wraps around the entire front all the way back to the doors and the massive pontoon fenders are legendary, the shape is one of a kind. The body has filler, rust, welded sections, flaking paint, and lead fill. It has a mix of tires and wheels, including a truck tire on the left rear, but it does roll and that's important!
Interior
A gutted shell, but the steering wheel is salvageable and the dash, easily the highlight of the car, is original and mostly intact with a decorative spun metal plate and aquamarine accent. The rest of the interior will need to be completely rebuilt.
Undercarriage
Our consignor states a Mopar front and 10 bolt rear end have been installed. Leaf springs are out back and coil springs in front where the consignor says is ""set up for a small block Chevrolet V8"".
We see your wheels turning, and you're not thinking about rebuilding it to Cord specs. You're thinking crate motor, tubbed rear, maybe a 671 poking through the coffin? Don't let us put thoughts in your head, your imagination is already running wild. Pull the cord and don't hesitate to make an offer on this car!
