Street Dreams Texas
7914 S STATE HIGHWAY 16
Fredericksburg, TX 78624
"Welcome to Street Dreams as we celebrate our 26th year in the classic and muscle car business. Despite the hardships of the Grear Depression, some of America's greatest accomplishments, like the Empire State Building and Hoover Dam, came out of this era. Likewise, Buick came out swinging in 1931 even though its sales had dropped sharply as the economy worsened.
Two of Buick's most important innovations were introduced in 1931. First, all Buicks were now powered by the automaker's first Straight Eight engine, all with overhead valves. That engine would be the Buick mainstay until 1953. With this smooth, powerful engine came the ""Silent-Shift"" transmissions, which were one of the first synchro-mesh transmissions. This meant no more grinding gears or double clutching giving Buick an advantage in the market. Buicks were offered in four series in 1931, the 50,60,80,and 90. This one is an 80 series making it a 124 inch wheel base sedan powered by a 344cui version of the Buick Eight. This car also features some surprising features such as a Tropic-Aire Heater, thermostat controlled radiator shutters that open and close in front of the radiator to control temperature. This car rides surprisingly smooth with road shock eliminators and a counterbalanced crankshaft that reduces engine vibration and noise. The exterior is finished in a gloss black with a contrasting silver on the fenders, giving it a very classy look. The interior is nothing to look over here with very cush benches and a very ornate gauge cluster on the dash. This car is a true piece of automotive history, showing that out of great adversity, comes great accomplishment. Street Dreams (830-997-1950) is a full service dealership that can assist with worldwide delivery, insurance, and financing options.
