Introducing the 1975 Chevrolet Vega Cosworth Twin Cam, a one-owner gem with just 45,415 original miles. This vehicle is exceptionally rare, with only 3,508 Vega Cosworths produced in 1975 and 1976. This particular model stands out even more due to its original window sticker, owner’s manual, title, and extensive documentation.
When the compact Chevrolet Vega was launched in 1971, Chevrolet General Manager John Z. DeLorean envisioned a high-performance variant, much like the Pontiac GTO from the Le Mans. The result was impressive, reminiscent of a Yenko creation, featuring heavy-duty front and rear suspension and the ZO9 Cosworth Vega’s all-aluminum inline-four 122 cu in (1,999 cc) engine. This engine, developed by Cosworth Engineering, an English company, includes a DOHC 16-valve cylinder head, twin overhead cams, and is reported to produce 110 hp (190 kW) with Bendix electronic fuel injection and a header. Additional features include a heavy-duty radiator and battery.
For 1975, the Cosworth Vega was available only in black with gold pinstriping. This car has been repainted once and presents very well, with factory sport door mirrors, bumper guards, and all chrome and trim in excellent condition. The hatchback design offers ample rear space for an economy-sized car. The factory-ordered white vinyl interior provides a striking contrast to the exterior. Standard interiors for the 1975 model were black, making this white interior even more special. The car includes bucket seats, a floor shifter, a gold dash gauge panel similar to the Pontiac Firebird, an in-dash tachometer, black carpeting, white door panels, a rear window defrost, and shoulder harness seat belts, all in very nice condition.
This Vega is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission and gold pseudo-Minilite wheels with new Michelin tires, enhancing both its performance and aesthetic appeal. This 1975 Chevrolet Vega Cosworth Twin Cam is a unique and well-preserved example of American automotive history, ready to be driven and enjoyed.
