My 1974 Midget is mostly stock rated as a Driver ++ condition. It has no rust problems anywhere. It has won numerous trophies in local car shows and our local British car club. It has had one excellent respray in a deep maroon that shines bright in any light. The chrome is beautiful and a luggage rack is mounted on the trunk lid. The top is good and has a few small repairs from the previous owner not folding it incorrectly. There is a new cover for when the top is folded down. I don’t drive the car when it’s wet so I haven’t used the top. It goes up easily and clamps as it should. The car runs and drives perfectly. Here’s a chance to own a really fun car at a reasonable price.
I recently had the transmission rebuilt, replaced the clutch and throw-out bearing, and, while the engine was out, removed the oil pan and installed a new oil pump. The rear case has the usual oil drip that accumulates a quarter-sized spot over the course of a week.
I have flushed all the brake lines, installed new pads, and replaced the brake fluid with DOT 5. I currently own 3 Midgets, so I’m quite familiar with the mechanics and the Lucas Electrical. I have this MG tuned so that it starts on the first crank and cruises like it is new. The engine runs cool even in this Florida heat. The odometer shows 1360 miles; the true mileage is unknown. I drive the car weekly during the winter months when I’m in Florida and personally have put about 300 miles on the car over the last 3 years. It is stored in my air-conditioned shop when I’m gone. All the Lucas, Prince of Darkness, electrical works except as noted.
The Midget has wire wheels with knockoffs and good tread all around. An original jack and a new knockoff hammer are included as well as a spare mounted on a 5th wire wheel. The heater works but I’ve never used it other than to try it out.
Negatives: There are a few small chips on the front of the hood that have been touched up (not professionally). They are hard to depict in the pictures, but I’ll try to show them as accurately as possible. The hazard blinker needs a new switch, The headlight switch works but is cracked and could be replaced. The cigarette lighter is disconnected. It’s probably not a negative, but it has an aftermarket radio that has a nice sound but I detest putting aftermarket radios in classic cars.
I’m moving north next month, so I’m offering this MG at a very reasonable reserve. It has a clean title and comes with two keys. The car is in Punta Gorda, Florida and I can help with shipping if necessary. Good luck with the bidding.
