By 1973, the Pontiac Trans Am remained as one of the few bright stars remaining in an ever-darkening sky of high fuel prices and strangling emissions controls. Having just been completely redesigned for the 1970 model year, the second-generation Trans Am had macho looks and the muscle under the hood to back it up. The 73′ model T/A was available with either the standard L75 455CI “HO” V-8 making 250hp and 370 ft. lbs. of torque, or the extreme and rare, hand built, LS2 455 Super Duty engine making 290 horsepower and 390 ft. lbs. of torque. Add to that powerful V-8 the attention grabbing looks and the luxurious cabin and the Trans Am for 73′ was a hard to beat combination.

The beautiful 1973 Trans Am pictured for sale here is one of only 146 M code Brewster Green (a 73′ only color) Trans Ams produced. Under the hood is the original, matching numbers, L75 455HO V-8. This block has the casting number 485428, casting date of L212(Dec. 21, 1972), and carries the WW suffix for a manual equipped 455HO. The transmission is also the original numbers matching 4-speed Muncie M21 with a date code of P3T22 or December 22nd, 1972. The rear axle is the original GM Corporate 10-bolt with a 3.42 Safe-T-Track rear axle. While the paint color and 4-speed make this a unique bird to start with, the factory optional C60 air conditioning system (a $397 cost) makes this a truly rare bird indeed. Other options include A01 tinted glass ($37), D55 floor console ($57), U63 Am radio ($65), TP1 Delco HD battery ($26) and Y32 rear bumper guards ($15).

Produced the first week of January 1973 at the Norwood, Ohio plant, this Trans Am was shipped to and sold new by Hallett Pontiac of Miami, Florida. While the complete history of this bird is unknown, it must have been lovingly kept and sparingly driven so as not to meet the same fate of many other second-generation Trans Ams. A full rotisserie restoration was commissioned in 2020 and with only 298 miles showing on the odometer hence, this Trans Am drives and appears as new, or perhaps even better. This is a very special automobile, and the chance to be the owner and caretaker of such a wonderful piece doesn’t happen every day.

    • BK says:

      Hello,

Yes this Trans Am is finished in Brewster Green, which is a one year only color and this T/A is 1 of only 146 such painted Trans Ams. I just sent a file over to ACC with documentation on the car including order form, build sheet, numbers break down etc. This is a truly nice driving and rare automobile.
