The 1969 AMC AMX was hailed as “more racy-looking than ever,” and this beautifully restored example lives up to that reputation. Standard features included a collapsible spare tire, sports steering wheel, courtesy lights, dual exhaust, Flo-Thru ventilation, dual horns, an instrument panel gauge cluster with a tachometer, rear traction bars, front head restraints, reclining bucket seats, heavy-duty suspension, and more.
Under the hood sits the most powerful engine option available for the ‘69 AMX—a 390 CI big block—paired with a desirable four-speed manual transmission, making this a true muscle car enthusiast’s dream. Just like the Beach Boys song, this car is all about fun—whether ripping through the gears, laying down burnouts, or simply enjoying the raw, nostalgic driving experience.
This AMX has been restored to a high standard, both cosmetically and mechanically. It checks all the right boxes, featuring power steering, power brakes with front discs, a factory tachometer, a working factory radio, and reclining bucket seats. In turnkey condition, everything functions as it should—electrical, lights, heater, horn, and wipers all work flawlessly.
The interior is just as impressive, with period-correct seats, door panels, and trim, all in excellent condition. The underside is just as clean as the rest of the car—no surprises here. Whether you’re looking for a thrilling weekend cruiser or a solid investment, this AMX delivers in every way.

The amc 390 is considered a small block not a big block. All of the Gen II and Gen III engines from the 290-401 were considered small blocks and are from the outside of the engine, are basically the same. You could argue that they are in the middle of the 2 as a mid block because they have a bore spacing more similar to a big block but bore and stroke of a small block. They have good low end tq like a BB but can spin higher RPM like a SB.
Good morning ,
Did you bid on the 69 AMX? Curious if you know what it bid up to and what you think it’s worth? I just started looking for an AMX and appreciate your opinion.
Thanks,
Paul
