Ford fans, we know that you see a lot of Chevelles out there, but we hope this pretty 1968 Galaxie 500 convertible at least makes up for some of it. A handsome mid-sized ragtop, it offers V8 power, room for six in the nicely preserved interior, and remains a car that you won’t see at every cruise night and car show.
The white interior is in fantastic condition. The upholstery is a handsome vinyl, with brown carpets and dash to give it some contrast. There’s new carpet and a new dash in the trunk with some other NOS. The gauges are in good order. There’s room for six thanks to wide, comfortable bench seats front and rear and nobody will complain about the lack of leg room because this is a big car in every sense of the word. The original AM radio is still in the dash and we believe that’s a replaced white power top because it is in such nice condition. The trunk is truly massive and is rust free and a full-sized spare tire.
The 390 cubic inch V8 is the car’s original engine and makes good torque so the Galaxie feels light on its feet. The engine bay is very nicely detailed, complete with bright Ford Blue on the engine and air cleaner, and the overall condition suggests that it’s been expertly maintained over the years. Underneath you’ll find power steering and power brakes and a C4 3-speed automatic transmission, so this ragtop feels luxurious on the road. There are no major upgrades or notable modifications, and it still exhales through a dual exhaust system that has a pleasant, soft burble. You’ll see underneath that the car has lived a very clean life. The original wheels have been replaced and these compliment this car 100%.
The only area that we seen that has cracking in the paint is by the drivers door and we have taken a photo for you to examine as well as taken photos with magnets to rule out bondo. New dash and new carpet if you want to change it out is in the trunk. Absolutely a beautiful Ford ride!
