When the father of the Corvette, Zora Arkus-Duntov, was tasked with designing a Corvette to compete with the mighty Shelby Cobras on the racing circuit, his answer was developing the Grand Sport.
Featuring exotic lightweight racing body work, only 5 of these iconic cars were produced and a mere 2 were converted into roadster specifications for the 1964 season. Easily the most valuable Corvette ever built, the last known example to come up for auction was bid to $4.9 million in 2009 and did not meet reserve.
Estimates today value a Grand Sport at $8-10 million. This car was painstakingly created to have the head turning Grand Sport look and was built from a REAL 1964 Corvette convertible unlike others you see on the market from various replica manufacturers.
