This 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible is a classic cruising drop-top with plenty of old-school flair. But there have also been a ton of investments here that give you a freshly built big block V8, four-wheel disc brakes, an overdrive transmission, and a custom leather-lined A/C interior. So this is an awesome all-around build.
Long and sleek, this is the classic American droptop that instantly conveys speed and elegance. For example, the paint is a well-done beige that has a deep gloss and metallic element so that it radiates in the sunshine. All the brightwork is quite good: the bumpers have a mirror shine, the intricate grille is complete, and the rear panel artfully fills the space in-between the jet-inspired taillights. We especially love the full-length side trim. It not only is part of the speedy style but also the white element within it does a great job of coordinating with the roof. The car is a thoughtful build that is a very driver-ready presentation. That means a looker that doesn’t feel like you should be nervous about taking it out on the road. After all, the 18-inch Boss wheels add some awesome style, but they also mean you get to fit modern/grippy tires.
As good as the roof looks in place, we know you’re going to love opening this one up to the world. That’s because the upholstery has been custom covered in two-tone brown and tan leather. It has a supple feel and even has that ideal leather scent. And as a full-sized machine, it’s easy to share this vintage experience with family and friends. Plus, you even have upgrades to keep them feeling happy like the AM/FM/CD stereo in the glovebox and cold-blowing air conditioning. Of course, the driver is always king in this convertible. Front bucket seats, a center console in between, and an upgraded sports steering wheel on a tilt column make this a cruiser-ready drop-top.
The engine bay is filled with big block power, and the motor is fresh from a rebuild. In fact, we have $28k in total build receipts on this car. That’s why you have such an awesome polish on the Ford Racing valve covers, brackets, pulleys, alternator, aluminum radiator, and more. This fresh motor fires up eagerly as it inhales deeply with a Proform 750 four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer intake. There’s also a fuel injection system that comes with the sale! And just to make sure that you’ll want to run the boulevard all day long, they installed a four-speed automatic transmission w/highway-friendly overdrive. Add in power steering and Wilwood four-wheel power disc brakes, and you soon see that this is the drop-top you want to take everywhere.
The sale comes complete with build receipts and title documentation. This is the classic Ford convertible that was given the right investments to keep it a powerful, comfortable, and head-turning cruiser. Don’t miss this deal-
