1960 Nash Metropolitan Convertible. In 1960, 15,548 Nash Metropolitans were built, with only 20% believed to be convertibles. It’s estimated that only 10% of all Nash Metropolitans have survived, making this vehicle possibly one of just 310 convertibles still in existence. It presents well and runs and drives great. The car is currently with its third owner, who has always stored it indoors. It’s powered by the original 1500cc (1.5-liter) four-cylinder engine, rebuilt about 12 years ago with less than 3,500 miles since the rebuild. The carburetor has also been rebuilt, and the car has been upgraded to a 12-volt alternator with an internal regulator. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through the original three-speed manual transmission.
The convertible top has been replaced and is in good condition, functioning properly. The original bench seat has been replaced with bucket seats, likely from a Mustang. The back of the seats is becoming brittle, and the original door panels show some wear. This car is a fun ride with the top down, perfect for enjoying the open air. There is only surface rust on the undercarriage, but the body panels and paint are in excellent shape. The speedometer, oil pressure gauge, windshield wipers, and lights all work as they should.
While originally painted Frost White & Classic Black, the car has been repainted in Frost White & Berkshire Green. The Metropolitan’s small size and responsive steering make it ideal for urban driving, where its compact dimensions and easy maneuverability shine. Its soft suspension and light weight offer a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. The car comes with a clean title and is located in Springfield, Oregon.
