This 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is a stunning example of one of the most iconic cars in American automotive history. Recently treated to a cosmetic restoration, it has remained in the same family since new—nearly 65 years of continuous care and pride of ownership.
The 1959 Cadillac stood out even in its own time, and today it remains a bold symbol of late-50s style and innovation. That year marked a design shift for Cadillac—gone were the “Dagmar” bumpers, replaced with sleek oval pods housing turn signals and driving lights, giving the car a lower, more modern stance. The new bullet-style front grille and dual headlights added flair while hinting at the future of Cadillac design. Most famously, the towering tail fins and bullet-shaped taillights defined the rear, creating a silhouette that’s instantly recognizable.
Finished in factory-correct Dover White, the exterior shines beautifully. The white power convertible top operates smoothly at the flip of a switch and is in excellent condition. Wide whitewall tires and full Cadillac wheel covers complete the classic look.
Under the hood is a 390 cubic inch V8 paired with a single 4-barrel carburetor, originally rated at 325 horsepower. It’s backed by a recently rebuilt Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, making this Cadillac as smooth to drive as it is to admire. Dual exhaust gives it a rich, period-correct sound.
This Series 62 comes loaded with features, including power steering, power brakes, power windows, and a dealer-installed air conditioning system. The interior is a showstopper with recently reupholstered turquoise leather seats, color-matched dash, carpeting, and door panels. The power front seat works as it should, and the dashboard houses a 120-mph speedometer, clock, fuel and temp gauges, and a push-button AM radio.
As the entry-level convertible for Cadillac in 1959, the Series 62 outsold the more expensive Eldorado Biarritz by a wide margin. But make no mistake—this car is every bit as luxurious and head-turning.
Whether you’re new to the classic car world or a seasoned collector, this 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is a must-have piece of Americana.
