This 1956 Chevrolet Corvette was refurbished in the early 1980s and was subsequently awarded six NCRS Top Flight Awards from 1987 to 1997. The car is powered by a 265ci V8 with dual-quad carburetors paired with a three-speed manual transmission and is finished in Aztec Copper over beige vinyl upholstery. Features include a tan convertible soft top, a removable body-color hardtop, 15″ wheels, bucket seats, and a twin-cowl dash with a dash-mounted rearview mirror. Offered here at ACC with the aforementioned awards, a binder of historical ownership documentation, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Aztec Copper with cream coves, and features include a tan convertible soft top, a removable body-color hardtop, a wrap-around windshield, exterior door handles, split chrome bumpers, chrome front and rear bumperettes, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper uprights.
The 15″ steel wheels wear covers with faux knock-off spinners and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The car came equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension and semi-elliptical rear leaf springs. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.
The cabin features twin bucket seats trimmed in beige vinyl along with a color-coordinated dash, carpets, and door panels. Equipment includes a floor-mounted shifter, a clock, a Chevrolet-branded radio, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, and center-mounted instrumentation consists of a tachometer, an ammeter, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles.
The 265ci V8 features two four-barrel carburetors and was factory rated at 225 horsepower.
The stamping on the engine pad is shows the GR suffix is consistent with a 265ci V8 rated at 225 horsepower and designated for a 1956 Corvette with two four-barrel carburetors and a manual transmission.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. The frame has been refinished.
The included binder contains historical ownership documentation in addition to refurbishment photos, NCRS Top Flight Awards certificates, and score sheets displayed in the gallery below.
