Cushman Motor Works began in 1903 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They began producing the Husky engine in 1922 and started producing scooters in 1936 to increase motor sales. The US Army took an interest in these scooters due to their maneuverability. When the country went to war in 1941, contracts were awarded to the Cushman Company for their scooters.
The Model 53 became the “Airborne Infantry Scooter” and could be dropped from the sky as a means of mobility when the soldiers reached the ground. After the war, the Model 53 was produced for civilian use.
This 1946 Cushman Model 53 has been restored with a Metallic Red, and a “buddy seat” was added to the back. The Husky motor gets 4HP. This scooter does not have a title and will be sold on a Bill of Sale.

Welcome to the auction! You don’t often see a buddy seat like this one. This one was definitely built for two.
