Often referred to as a “Baby Cadillac,” the 1932 Chevrolet Confederate BA Series stands out as one of the most stylish cars of the 1930s. With a wide selection of 14 Fisher-built body styles, this model offered both elegance and performance. Compared to Ford’s V-8 models, Chevrolet’s inline six-cylinder engine with overhead valves and a counterbalanced crankshaft provided a smooth, proven performance. This engine was paired with a full-synchromesh three-speed manual transmission, featuring a standard “Wizard Control” freewheeling mode. Delivering comparable performance to its Ford competitors, the 1932 Chevrolet offered excellent value at a lower price point, helping Chevrolet maintain its sales leadership in 1932.
This 1932 Chevrolet Series BA Confederate Sport Coupe, built in Canada, is beautifully finished in Cream with Dark Brown upper body surfaces and Black fenders. The car benefits from an older, well-preserved restoration that continues to shine. Notable accessories include dual chrome horns, a striking Art Deco-inspired Eagle radiator mascot, twin side-mounted spare wheels/tires, twin cowl lamps, and a rumble seat with step plates. The car also features a single Chevrolet-scripted taillamp and a folding rear luggage rack. The exterior is complemented by pinstripes, red-painted wire wheels, “Bowtie” hubcaps, and period-correct whitewall tires.
Inside, the bench seat is upholstered in Dark Brown mohair, offering both comfort and style. The instrument panel features a painted wood grain motif, which shows some wear but remains in good condition. The rumble seat, capable of accommodating two additional passengers, is trimmed in Dark Brown Naugahyde. The floors are covered with a correct rubber mat, adorned with Chevrolet’s “Bowtie” emblem.
Under the hood, the 194 cubic-inch “Stovebolt” OHV inline six-cylinder engine, factory-rated at 60 horsepower, is paired with a 3-speed, full-synchromesh manual transmission, which includes standard freewheeling. The car’s mechanical drum brakes at all four corners and leaf spring suspension ensure smooth handling. Both the engine compartment and surrounding components are in excellent, restored condition, with the frame and suspension restored to original specifications.
Offering a delightful alternative to the more common Ford models of the era, this 1932 Chevrolet Confederate BA 2/4-Passenger 5-Window Coupe is a true classic, ready to be enjoyed by its next owner and shared with friends and family.
