1929 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup restomod. This California built truck was completed in 2009 near the central coast of California, but it currently resides in Colorado. This truck was meticulously built, using the original body & doors with aftermarket steel fenders for an absolute all-steel hot rod. The car is equipped with a Buick V-6 from a mid-2000’s model car and was overhauled, rebuilt, assembled and ultimately powder-coated to match the copper tone of the car. The builder, a retired car-fanatic, spent about 3 years putting this together, with multiple body-off/body-on fit tests with custom brackets, welding and a configuration that is sure to please. A soft-top frame with older upholstery is available for the truck, though that has not yet been restored. I think it would look amazing in a cream vinyl to match the fenders. This is available to the buyer at no additional expense, if desired. An additional feature which is a great theft deterrent is the presence of a battery cut-off switch under the seat.
The engine is mated with a Magnuson blower (see magnusonsuperchargers.com) and fuel injection, along with side-venting aluminum tuned exhaust that comes out below the rear step-side. Power is directed to the asphalt via a 3-speed automatic transmission connected to an early corvette-style leaf-spring rear suspension. Mag wheels with staggard tire size from front to rear contributes to the aggressive nose-down stance of this truck. Wilwood disc brakes on all four wheels stop this car better than any new car. The modern fuel-injected, computer-controlled engine with supercharger makes this vehicle a “bat out of hell” when you step on the accelerator!
The custom fuel-cell is accessible through a leather-strapped door in the bed of the truck. The bed is composed of wood inlay with chrome accents. This vehicle has been garage kept since it’s completion and the paint and varnish speak to that. This truck has never been entered into a car show competition, but it has been to many a “Cars-n-Coffee” in CA and CO and a parade or two as well.
Flaws: Very few.
1) It has been garage kept, and and as such it has incurred a few minor chips in paint over it’s 16 years since completion. Nothing distracting, but would require touch up to get back to “perfection”.
2) Intermittent less-than-smooth shift in/out of drive. This is new and I suspect shift linkage needs to be adjusted. I noticed on last drive it worked perfectly when cold, but a bit of work when the car had driven a few miles. Overall, an amazing hot rod!
This wonderfully finished hot rod will add a flair to your collection or be an amazing head-turner in your hometown.
