I purchased this Kaiser from the Gilmore Car Museum in MI. They had it displayed for years and was showcased due to it’s rarity, though the paint has some runs and other imperfections. Leave as-is to enjoy or go one step further with a good wet sanding that would make anybody proud to own this part of history. With that thought, know that Kaiser-Frazer also provided Sears, Roebuck and Company with Allstate branded automobiles that retailer sold through selected Sears Auto Centers. U.S. production of Kaiser ceased in 1955 but continued production in Argentina under Industrias Kaiser Argentina until the 60’s with the same body.
Installed under my ownership is a new Edelbrock 4 barrel 650 cfm carb, new electric fuel pump & gas filter, and tank cleaned. This was needed as it sat for years in the museum. Mechanically not stock as she was converted to a 12 volt system, 350 Chevrolet motor and Chevrolet Automatic transmission, Dana 60 rear end (do not know the ratio), newer 12 volt gauges, functioning factory hood scoop, and functioning wipers. Very comfortable cruiser. Though no power steering, turning her is easy because the Kaiser weighs in about 3400 pounds. Windows operate as they should. Only mechanical issue I have is the brakes have to be pumped twice when first going for a ride and when you drive a while. My mechanic inspected the brakes & lines for leaks but none are present to date. I have been driving this way.
Interior has original bamboo dash. The seats and door panels are in good shape though not original type fabric. The headliner is original good condition. The carpet is aftermarket. The trunk is detailed. The exterior chrome and stainless steel is in very good. The frame, floorboards and trunk have no rust issues as was coated with POR-15 at one time. The rockers are good as well as the wheel wells. Good for cruise-ins and local shows. She is driven and enjoyed and not a 100% Concourse show car trailer queen so bid accordingly. And remember, it’s not what you drive but why you drive! …Clear Tennessee Title.
