Beautifully restored 1958 Ford Skyliner Retractable Convertible. While retractable hardtops first appeared in the 1930s in French Peugeot models, Ford was the first to mass-produce one, debuting the Skyliner in 1957. Built for just three model years (1957–1959), only 48,394 were ever made. In 1958, just 14,713 units were produced, making this a rare and sought-after collector car today.
This particular Skyliner is believed to have been originally owned by a farmer in Clarence, NY, and was later restored by Fred La Rock of Niagara Falls. During its time in the collection, the car was not driven.
Powered by a 352ci V8 with dual exhaust, it features power steering and a three-speed automatic transmission. The tan metallic paint shines beautifully, complemented by excellent chrome and stainless trim. Exterior touches include a driver’s side spotlight, fender skirts, and a body-matching continental kit on the extended rear bumper.
Inside, the tri-color interior seats six comfortably. It features a Town and Country radio, all original instrumentation, and is finished with well-preserved carpeting and interior panels.
A rare and striking example of Ford’s innovation, this Skyliner is ready to turn heads at any show or cruise night. With so few remaining, it’s a standout piece of automotive history and an exceptional value.
