1955 Mercury Montclair with Continental Kit

This beautiful ’55 Montclair was fully restored 25 years ago and has been lovingly owned and maintained by the same owner ever since. With just 20,000 miles driven since the restoration, it remains in excellent overall condition and continues to turn heads wherever it goes.

Powered by a rebuilt 292ci V8 paired with a Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission, the car runs and drives smoothly. It’s equipped with power steering, power front disc brakes, a larger dual master cylinder assisted by an electric vacuum pump, a new 500 CFM Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and a new aluminum radiator for improved cooling.

Finished in factory-correct Persimmon with black accents and a black hardtop, the exterior is in great shape with only a few minor imperfections noted. The coordinating interior in Persimmon, black, and white is exceptionally clean. The seats are covered with factory-style clear plastic (installed four years ago) and are in excellent condition. The headliner and dash are also in great shape, with the original gauge cluster supplemented by discreetly mounted Equus gauges under the dash. A tissue box conceals a Pioneer AM/FM CD player for modern audio convenience.

This Montclair features a working Continental kit with a custom airbrushed drive-in scene on the tire cover, dual dummy chrome spotlights, clear glass throughout, and a tidy trunk with a rubber mat, spare, jack, and vintage first aid kit. All chrome, trim, and badging are intact and in excellent condition. Body panels align well, and underneath the car remains clean with only light surface rust and some peeling undercoating.

The car rides on two-year-old Diamondback wide whitewall tires with 1957 Dodge Lancer hubcaps up front and factory Mercury chrome caps on the rear. It also includes factory rear fender skirts and a dual exhaust system with 2-inch chrome tips exiting the rear.

A few minor issues include non-working dash lights, odometer, clock, and a neutral safety switch that may need attention. Despite this, the car is mechanically sound, always garaged, well-maintained, and passes MA state inspection. It comes with a car cover and a clean Massachusetts title in the owner’s name.

This Montclair is a real crowd-pleaser—beautifully preserved and ready to enjoy on the road or at the show.
