1940 Packard 120 Club Coupe – Beautifully Restored, Rare Survivor

This stunning 1940 Packard 120 Club Coupe underwent a meticulous three-year restoration in Oregon before being sold overseas and later imported back to the U.S. With only an estimated 2,500 originally built and very few in the registry today, this all-steel Packard is a rare and outstanding example of classic American craftsmanship—fully restored with a keen attention to detail, making it equally show-ready and cruise-worthy.

The exterior is finished in its iconic factory French Blue, polished to a mirror-like finish. The body is rock solid with excellent lines and panel fitment. Up front, the grille, bumper, lighting, and three-bar guards all shine beautifully. It retains its original hood ornament, working hood louvers, and dual Packard driving lights. Along the sides, the arrow-straight panels are paired with excellent running boards and mats. White pinstriping around the side glass adds a subtle, correct accent. At the rear, you’ll find the proper bumper with guards, a Packard script reverse light, gas cap, and functional auxiliary turn signals. All seals and weatherstripping were replaced, providing a smooth, quiet ride. Completing the look are 16″ steel wheels in Vermillion Red with white pinstripes, Packard hubcaps, beauty rings, and BF Goodrich Silvertown wide whitewall tires.

Inside, the factory-correct wool interior from Bill Hirsch was stitched and installed by Guys Interior, including the correct piping and detail. Although this Packard features the rare rear bench seat (introduced in 1941), it can be removed to convert back to business coupe style or to use the rear jump seats that fold from behind the side panels. Contrasting wool door panels match the 1940 design, and all hardware, cranks, and plastics have been replaced. The original floor mat and sill plates remain and are in excellent condition. The deluxe heater and radio were refurbished during the restoration, and the dash features the correct single-grain finish. Factory gauges are fully functional, and the restored steering wheel and horn operate as they should. The headliner and visors were expertly redone. The trunk is solid and painted to match the exterior, complete with a spare and mat.

Under the hood is the correct 282ci Inline-8, completely rebuilt and dressed with a restored carburetor, generator, regulator, water pump, fuel pump, and radiator. A new wiring harness was installed, and the exhaust manifold was ceramic coated inside and out. It features a full new exhaust system and Overdrive option. The 3-speed manual transmission and rear end were both redone during the restoration. The suspension was fully refreshed, delivering a tight, responsive ride. The brake system was also redone, providing confident stopping power. The underside is just as impressive, with solid metal from the frame to the floors—painted in French Blue and black for a show-ready finish.

This is one of the finest Packard 120 Club Coupes you’ll find—rare, beautifully restored, and ready to be enjoyed.
