The 1956 Thunderbird is a classic American car that exudes timeless elegance and style. Its sleek, aerodynamic design captures the spirit of the 1950s with iconic lines and curves. Originally black and white, the car was restored to a period-correct Fiesta Red and white. It is powered by a 312 cubic inch V-8 engine, the larger of the two available for the 1956 Thunderbird, paired with a three-speed Ford-O-Matic transmission. The vehicle has had limited use over the past decade. Recently, a certified mechanic checked the tires and confirmed they are in good shape. The car has been driven in the last few weeks, revealing a small, slow oil leak near the driver’s side of the engine bay.
The dashboard features a centrally located speedometer, clock, fuel and temperature gauges, and a tachometer, all fully functioning. The AM/FM stereo with 8-track player is currently disconnected due to an electrical short. The vehicle is equipped with both a fully functioning convertible top and the currently installed hard top. The interior headliner of the hardtop is a beautiful pearl white and is in excellent condition. The red and white interior, dash, carpet, and gauges are all in excellent condition. The trunk is equipped with a plaid liner, and the fender skirts are included, though not currently installed.
There are some visible scratches on the backside of the spare tire holder, which are only noticeable if specifically looked for, as shown in the photos. Additionally, there is a spot of bare metal about the size of a dime above the driver’s headlight, also shown in a photo. These are the only imperfections on the exterior paint. The chrome bumpers and moldings shine in the sunlight. This Thunderbird has classic wire-spoke wheels and whitewall tires. The undercarriage is solid with no signs of rust. The engine bay is clean, although there is some paint peeling on the radiator fan casing. All other parts of the engine bay are clean, painted, or chrome.
The vehicle is equipped with power steering and power brakes. Overall, the 1956 Thunderbird is a true icon of American automotive history. Its timeless design, luxurious interior, and powerful performance make it a sought-after classic car that continues to captivate car enthusiasts and collectors alike. The vehicle is located in northwestern Indiana.
