1966 Ford Fairlane GT Convertible
This rare ride is 1 of only 4,327 Fairlane GT convertibles produced in 1966. Believed to be a three-owner car, the current owner purchased it from the second owner’s estate, who owned it for 35 years. It is powered by an S-code 335hp 390ci V8 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine and transmission are believed to be original, with the date code on the block (6E27 = 5/27/66) and the build date of the car (6/13/66) supporting this.
The previous owner installed a Crane Cam, Hooker headers, Glasspacks, and an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. The original intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and other parts will be included with the car. The body panels appear to be original, with evidence of rust repair on the lower rear quarters and the bottom of the driver door. It is believed that the car had one full repaint in its original Arcadian Blue. The paint and body are in good condition, with some flaws, touch-ups, and bubbling from prior rust repair (see photos).
The power convertible top was replaced around 16 years ago and works great. The top is in good condition with minor wear. The Parchment interior is in good shape for its age, showing normal wear. The front seat covers were replaced in 2000, and the driver’s seat has one small tear on the bottom.
The car runs and drives great! In the past year, the current owner had the following installed: a new Holley 650cfm carburetor with electric choke, new under-hood seals and bumpers, new door seals and bumpers, new master cylinder, NOS temperature sending unit, new door stoppers, new vacuum lines, new fuel lines, new brake wheel cylinder, and a new tailshaft seal. The emergency brake was repaired, oil was changed, and a tune-up was performed last year as well.
The car sits on factory 14-inch wheels (recently polished) with four new BF Goodrich Silvertown Redline 225/70/14 tires. The original broadcast sheet, owner’s manual, and many original parts are included with the sale. Some aftermarket parts are also included.

It did not suddenly become better,
What are you talking about?
Even though the car has been cleaned up, it is not really a rock solid example of 60s power car. Probably the storage did a number on it.
